Beauty

An amazing sunset over Manhattan last night. These are the days when I fall in love with New York all over again.

Girl Crush

Just checked out the behind the scenes footage for the Michael Kors Holiday ad campaign. I think I'm a little bit in love with Carmen Kass. She is stunning! I would give a million bucks to look like that.

A Scary Sight

Outside my office window right now. Pouring rain, heavy thunder and lightning, and dark skies. I hope it clears up in the next 15 minutes...I don't have an umbrella with me.

Friday Fun

Happy Friday everyone!

Heading out a little early today to go home and celebrate Fashion's Night Out...In...with the family. Birthday celebration for Stickan tonight—steak, yummy wine and chocolate cake. It can't get any better than that! Of course, having Campbell around is the cherry on the top.

Plus, I really have to get everything ready for Campbell's christening in the city tomorrow. Ceremony at the Swedish Church and then reception at a wine bar downtown.

So, for all of you going out tonight, have fun!

US OPEN 2010

Had such a fun night last night at the US OPEN. Really nice dinner at the Ace's Club and the court-side tickets to the evening session. Unfortunately it got a little chilly later at night—thank god we had brought jackets.

Got a little star-struck when I realized that I was sitting right in front of Derek Jeter. I'm such a dork and just had to take out the camera and sneak a photo. At least I didn't turn the flash on! Rich was mortified, but I just had to get a picture. (I would have made a great spy—he didn't even notice that I snapped one)

Last night's first game, Blake vs. Djokovic. Of course, I rooted for Blake since I'm bleeding red, white and blue through-and-through. Typically, Rich loves Serbian Djokovic. The whole game we were pitted against each other. Unfortunately, it wasn't Blake's night and he lost in three straight sets.

The women's game after that ended up actually being more fun—Kirilenko vs. Kuznetsova. We ended up staying until past midnight. On top of that I have a total girl-crush on Kirilenko. She is so pretty! And I loved her purple tennis outfit. I just have to get my hands on that one.

Lunch with a View

Didn't get to run out for lunch until almost three o'clock to day, but who cares when this is your view. Hot like a sauna today, almost 95F. Sizzling.

Lines are already forming outside Eataly for the opening in 25 minutes. I think I'll just wait until the mad-opening hours are over.

Can't wait to run home tonight. Missing Campbell like crazy. Date night on Saturday at the US OPEN—hopefully it will be a little cooler by then or we will melt away.

Neighborhood Buzz: Eataly Opening Today

This is going to be the most amazing Italian extravaganza ever.

I've been passing by this location for the past 7 months now and today Eataly finally opening (I heard that it will open at 4:00 pm and I think it will be madness). Mario Batali, Oscar Farinetti, Joe Bastianich and Lidia Matticchico's have teamed up to open up this tribute to Italian food which will be located in the old Toy Building 24th street and 5th Avenue.

The 50,000 sqf space will house multiple restaurants, and will both sell and serve Italian specialty foods, coffee, cheeses, veggies, fish, meats, pastries and gelato. They will even have an on-site travel agent organizing trips and wine tours to Italy, as well as a wine merchant.

Plus, all customers will also have access to their roof top beer garden with a view of MSq Park (you will be able to sit down and eat your purchased lunch there).

This place is going to be amazing. They best of all, it's just around the corner from my job!

The Moon and Jupiter

Yup, that tiny speck below the moon is Jupiter!
I know it doesn't look like much on the photo,
but it was really amazing to witness.

I forgot to mention this amazing event from Thursday night. The moon and Jupiter were aligned and could be seen perfectly around 12:30 am in New York. This will only happen once in our lifetime, so we just had to stay up to check it out. It looked like we had a second small moon, but in actuality it was Jupiter making an appearance. With binoculars we could even see some of its nine moons! Even if we were exhausted, it was totally worth it.

Summertime

Thank god I just had a summer Friday and left at 1 pm. I'm living in complete chaos. No, not at work, but at home. The house is such a mess. We are still trying to figure out a routine now when I am back at work. There are simple not enough hours in the evening to get everything done, so somethings gotta' give. In our case, it's been the straightening up. This place is a mess. And I have to get the laundry done or we have to go naked. I just have to make it one more week. Mom, come help!

Once the baby is fed, I have to roll up my sleeves and dig in

Calling It a Night

Time to head to bed again. These evenings are passing way too fast—three hours a night with Mini feels way to short, but what are you going to do. Work is actually not as bad as I first thought it was going to be. My boss even took me out for lunch today to give me some motherly thoughts.

Rich just ordered my new Marc Jacobs bag tonight (the replacement bag from my birthday present purse)—I can't wait for it to get here. That for sure adds a little silver lining to a long day. It will be another month until it ships though—I have to be patient.

Thinking of planning a girls' spa day in November (Laurie, I know you're in!) Facials, massages, pedis...maybe at Bliss in the city or maybe Red Door here on the Island? Any which way, I think us girls deserve a day of complete relaxation.

Six baby bottles to wash on the counter in the kitchen, so I should probably wrap it up for the night.

Life Back in the Fast Lane

So strange to be back at work. Walking down 7th Ave this morning I was feeling all anxious, but it's getting better. Now I just have to get my brain back to work too. Physically I'm back, but my mind is still back home in bed with Campbell.

On the upside, this bouquet of roses were waiting for me as I stepped into the office this morning. This makes everything so much better! The scent is intoxicating.

Heading out to go to Buy Buy Baby during lunch. Funny how life changes. One day you are shopping for purses at Bloomingdales and the next you spend your time in the baby stores looking for diapers—and you don't mind. Selfishness is dead—and that's a good thing!

Feeling Lazy

As usual I have million things to get done today, but instead I'm sitting on the sofa eating a Swedish cinnamon bun drinking a diet coke watching a little tv. Just the thought of going back to work on Monday has completely paralyzed me, and I'm not getting anything accomplished. Part of me is looking forward to go to work—seeing my co-workes, doing my hair and putting on some cute outfits. But another part of me wants to stay at home with my little peanut and just hang out. I'm feeling really really torn and anxious about the whole thing. Luckily Rich's mom is watching her for two weeks and then my mom will pitch in for another 3 months. I guess after that, she's a little older and I don't have to worry so much.

Anyway, I have given myself 15 minutes to get my butt in gear and get the house cleaned up and plant some flowers in the garden. I'll check in later today to update with some new fun stuff. (Rich took me shopping for some cute clothes to make it easier to head back to work). brb.

Oh Happy Day!

Didn't make it home until almost eight o'clock tonight. So much for just having a lunch date! Even if I hadn't seen Tom for probably around 15 years, it was just like good ol' times. We had so much to catch up on—especially some juicy gossip from Ă…hus. Small town living is so incestuous.

Cafeteria was packed—some things never change. Over ten years later, that place is still going strong. Unusual for New York restaurants. Food was yummy and I got to toast with a glad of Prosecco. That for sure puts a little glam in an otherwise gray and rainy day. Coffee at Chelsea market afterwards. I love that place. Tons of great produce and cute little local bakeries and cafes. That for sure beats Starbucks! And our little Bella was so good all day. Not a whimper, cry or tear all day—a total wunderkind. She is only three months after all. I guess she likes people watching just like her mommy.

Stopped by Billy's Bakery on my way home—thought I would surprise Rich with some chocolate/vanilla cupcakes after dinner. I swear it's the best little cupcake place in town—their frosting can be eaten by the spoonful. Thank god I only got two, cause we could have had at least two more each. That would NOT have been good for our waistlines.
