Life is changed forever.

Campbell Kristina Arthur, born 5/13/10

Since I'm usually pretty good at updating my blog, as some of you may have suspected, I went into labor a week early. Last Thursday morning at 4 am it all began and, at 4 pm on the dot, our little baby girl Campbell was born. The most amazing and beautiful little thing I have ever seen. I am so in love with her that spending even a minute away from her seems like forever.

Well, out little girl wasn't so little—8 lbs 1 oz (3680 g) and 21 inches (53.5 cm) long. Labor and delivery was not as bad as I had expected, but I did opt for an epidural (I would highly recommend it.)

It's now been 6 days since her birth and we are starting to get in the groove. Rich who's usually not that into babies is changing diapers, cuddling and spoiling her rotten. He already has anxiety over going back to work tomorrow.

Everyone has been so nice sending baby gifts, fruit, flowers and tons of other stuff. We have all had a big debate last about "push presents"—I have never heard of it until last year! Apparently a girl is supposed to get a gift from her husband upon the birth of their baby, for going through the "agony" of labor. Kind of stupid I think—isn't the baby the greatest gift of all? However, I don't want to sound like a hypocrite—Rich did surprise me with a David Yurman bracelet at the hospital. Although, he was quick to point out that is was not a push present—just a little something to celebrate Campbell's birth.
