Sunday Sail

Complete dead calm today, so the sailing ended up being more of a motoring around instead. Still ended up being a beautiful (and sweltering hot) day on the water with Rich, John, Campbell and Bailey. Noting more relaxing than the sound of the water hitting the hull and the slight rolling in the swells.

Time to hit the shower and crawl into bed—it is a work day tomorrow after all!

Pretty Play Areas

Quick break from the rollers and brushes with some blog updates and this year's Shark Week premier. Looking for some inspiration for kids play area's and found this amazing photo on Kjersti's Lykke (thanks for letting me use this photo).  I want this little kitchen play area for Campbell. I love this white play stove from brio and how it's incorporated into an adult decor. I simply have to find this stove right now!

Both living room and dining room are almost done—just a few more hours of paining then all done. And these walls really need some fresh paint. Two shades of beautiful matte silver grey—and it's coming out just the way i imagined it. Rich's grandma's rattan chairs from the beach  house are in place and I just have to order the fabric for the upholstery now (i found this amazing print from West ETlm).  Of course everything is taking about four times longer than I first thought, but hopefully by fall, the whole upstairs will be all done. (Cross your fingers!)

Wilson Tea Lawn Dress

I can't believe it's been over a week since I was last updating! The last three months have been all work and  it's been challenging and exhausting all at once—starting a new job is not easy!

I'm having the luxury of the day off today! Finally some time to do some work around around the house, and some online shopping. I've been eyeing this tennis dress for a few weeks now, and I just pulled the trigger and got it. I'm crossing my fingers that it will get here by next weekend!

A napping baby, so I better get back to painting before my little wild child wakes up again...

Heat Wave

Walking around New York these past few days has felt like being engulfed in flames—the temperature has been pushing 100F! Thank god for A/C and that it's almost weekend.

Heading back home to Long Island and the beaches saves my sanity when it gets this crazy hot. A cold bottle of sparkling red 'Labrusca' will for sure help cool us down.

The plumber is finally coming to fix the leaky pipe this weekend. I'm planning on keeping busy doodling around the house. Ahhh...relaxation! A dip in the pool will probably end up being mandatory to—no relief from the heat in sight! Maybe central air wouldn't be such a bad investment after all?

Inspiration: Modern Global

Playing musical chairs with our furniture and moving everything around—we just have to convert that guest room into a play room stat! Bookshelves, tables, lamps and dressers, everything is finding a new place. But we are also looking to redecorate a little.

Stopped by CB2 when we were in the city this past weekend, and I found a aqua blue bar cart and a lamp that I absolutely fell in love with. Plus, today's lunch time visit to West Elm  triggered some new ideas. Their new imported stuff from the far east looks great.

Decisions, Decisions. First we have to get the new paint on the walls—I guess I should think baby steps!

The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore

This is the most spectacular innovation—an interactive animated children's book for iPad. I can't wait to get this—even if Campbell is too little still. Play the trailer below and see for yourselves. Isn't it amazing?!

Ruby Red Slippers

Just got the most adorable red jelly rainy day ballet flats from J. Crew, $58.00. Perfect for rainy summer days (not that we have seen any of those lately)

Weekend Reminiscing

Taking a quick afternoon break daydreaming about the weekend before last at Fire Island. Finally some more pictures for you all. (I know, I still owe pictures from our European vacation. One day, my friends, one day!)

Early morning hour walk from Robert Moses, past the Fire Island light house, and an amazing day with Campbell and second cousins at the Kismet beach. Pitcher of 'sand'gria watching the sunset on the dock, dinner at the Inn, and a midnight walk back to the car--the lighthouse lit up by the full moon was spectacular! I think that should be the definition of a perfect day (minus the exceptionally high tide and rip currents that drowned my phone, of course! That was totally no fun)

But, as fun as that, and last weekend were, I'm totally looking forward to having a weekend off. Besides Jen's bachelorette party at the Gansevoort Hotel and Edie and the Wolf on Saturday night, I'm kicking off my shoes and relaxing all weekend!
