Halloween is just around the Corner

Halloween is now exactly 31 days away and I think I finally found a costume. The Classic Playboy Bunny uniform. How cute isn't that!?  I'm thinking that after this year I should probably start wearing some less scandalous costumes—so one last hurrah before that though.

I found this one at a small internet-based company based in Colorado called Stage-Fright.com. They have a lot of really cute costumes.

Arm warmers from DKNY

I love these things. I'm constantly cold and that always limits the kind of outfits I can wear—especially in the winter. Easy solution—arm warmers. And they look super cool too!

Studded Bowling Bag

You have all probably noticed that I'm obsessed with studded stuff. Just checked Henri Bendel online and found this bag. What a beautiful thing! Studded bowling bag from Maia N, $895

The sample sale

So I did stop by the Tory Burch sample sale today. What a waste of time! Tons of junk, and a lot of it was stained, torn or pulls in it. I just had my lunch hour and the line in was about 1 hour so by the time I got in, I just felt rushed.

And there's nothing that brings out the devil in girls like a sample sale. Crazy girls pulling and tugging in the same things. Pushing and shoving, cutting lines and hiding stuff. Madness!

Once again. I left empty handed. I much rather get myself a new leather jacket.

Coming to America

Just another 3.5 weeks until my Em and bf Erik is coming to visit with us. It's going to be so much fun. Granted they probably want to hang out alone by themselves too, but I'm hoping to squeeze in a few days together. So much fun.

A Studded Little Number

Little blue dress with studs for a little bit of attitude. Cute with both bare legs or black tights. Alloy, $46.90 (also in black).

A Bathroom Renovation—Finally

So our basement bathroom renovation is finally on it's way. I just picked out a new really deep soaking tub. I just don't understand the purpose of the standard 14" deep tub. Half your body is above water if you try to take a bath. Makes no sense at all. So now finally I'm getting a nice deep tub to have nice hot soak.

I really wanted to have a white glass mosaic tile shower and floor, but every place I looked it was at least $6.95 per sq ft. We didn't want to spend a fortune—it's just the basement bathroom after all. Well, today I got a lucky break on Ebay. A woman in Oklahoma happened to be selling white mosaic tiles, and I scored enough for the whole bathroom for $157.50 and free shipping. I just saved $400!  I guess it pays to shop around and be patient.

Another Book Recommendation

Being a huge crime drama fan, I have another book that I highly recommend—The Ice Princess by Camilla Läckberg. A well written psychological thriller based on the west coast of Sweden.

Plot: Erica Falck is returning to her home town after the death of her parents, when news hits her that her childhood friend Alex has just been found with wrists slashed in a bath of ice cold water. As Erica start to write a memoir about her long lost friend, her suspicions about Alex's suicide start to grow—this was probably not a suicide after all.

Usually available from Amazon, it's unfortunately currently sold out. Still available though their partners though.

TGIF

Oh happy, happy Friday! It can never come soon enough. Longing for a nice relaxing weekend, sleeping in (I usually wake up at 7:30 am, anyway) and hanging around the house, stress-free. Planning on cooking some nice Boeuf Bourguignon tomorrow. I love a hearty fall stew. My dad always told me that the trick to a great Boeuf Bourguignon is to use a whole bottle of wine (of course, minus the glass you drink while cooking!), not the skimpy one and a half cups in the recipe.

Fantastic lunch in Madison Square Park today. I hope this weather continue all fall!

Cough cough. Sneeze, sneeze.

I think my boss has the swine flu. Thank god she started to feel sick on a Sunday instead of at work. That could have been a contagious disaster! She's been out sick for 6 days now, and apparently she still has 102F fever. Someone else went home sick on Wednesday on top of that. I have lock myself in my office and refuse to come out! LOL. I even had them shut of the A/C circulating in my office. I refuse to get sick! And who wants to contract anything with the word "swine" in it.

Striped Mini

I just love this skirt from Pleasure of Doing Business.  Seen on Rihanna, Ashley Tisdale, Heidi Klum and tons of other celebs. Black and white skinny stripe mini, $88.00, pre order at singer22.com.

Cartier Trinity Ring

Pink gold for Love, Yellow gold for Fidelity, White gold for Friendship.

Trinity Ring from Cartier, $1,050

Today's Outfit

Jeans and Yellow Patent Heels from J Crew; my new top from Old Navy; Necklace, Club Monaco.

Laptop Shopping

Have to, have to, have to get a new laptop. The current one is on life support, but I keep on putting it off. Stopped by the Apple store last night and I fell completely in love with this cute little white Mac Book. It's $999. Not that bad. Maybe this will be a Christmas present for myself this year.

FIKA NYC

I think I must be the worst Swede in NYC. I have absolutely no idea about anything Scandinavian going on, nor do I know any other Swedes in the city. I'm such a Bad Swede!

Today, walking around for my lunch hour, I realized that there is a Swedish café, FIKA, just two blocks from my office! I'm such a ditz.

I didn't get a chance to try it out yet, but I will for sure head over there one of these days. Apparently there are two locations, one by my office is Park Ave. South bet. 28/29th Streets, and another in midtown. Awesome! I'm dying for a great cup of Swedish coffee.

Visit FIKA NYC for more info.

Polka Dot Dress

I have always had a weakness for polka dots. Big ones, small ones, it doesn't really matter. I just think it's such a fun pattern. This dress from French Connection ($218.00) just makes me happy. May with a cute little green belt in the waist? Yes, please!

Hot Pink Madness

I'm absolutely in love with all things hot pink at the moment. Belts, scarfs, dresses, anything with that color catch my interest.

What? Did I read that correctly?

Mackenzie Philips haa a 10 year drug fueled sexual relation with dad. What? Whose dad?

I actually had to read the paper a few times. Whose dad are they talking about? It took me a while to realize that she was actually talking about her own dad. There must be a typo in the article because this for sure could not be correct. But oh no! Yes, in deed, the two of them had an incestuous relationship for over a decade! This is so repulsing. I'm not even sure why she is revealing this. Some things may be better off left in the closet.

This for will not be something people forget. So much for the legacy of The Mamas and the Papas.

Today's Outfit

Black Skirt, Banana Republic; Black Tee, American Apparel; Leather Jacket, bought in Sweden; Heels, Banana Republic; Belt, J Crew; Faux Pearls and Gold Sequin Clutch, Forever 21.

I want a Flip Camcorder

The tech nerd in me is craving a Flip Camcorder. With this cute little thing I could videotape my adventures. Comes in two price categories based on the amount of memory (60 min or 120 min), $149-$199.

And if you are a sucker for customization, like me, you can create your own camera with either preset patterns, make your own pattern, or upload your own image.

To get yours, go to the Flip Online store.

Hot Heels on a Budget

For a girl on a budget. Snooks heels from Nine West, $49.99. Also in gold and black.

A Highlighted Girl's Best Friend

Almost all shampoos and conditioners have sulfates in them—it's the worst thing for colored/highlighted hair. It will make your color fade much faster than it should.

When I was at my colorist last, I bought some sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner. I almost had a chock when I they rang me up—$48! (And I never get sticker-chock—I know what things cost, but just to wash my hair?!) The worst part is that i ended up hating these products.

Today I found a cheaper brand, that I'm hoping will be good for my hair. It's a product called EverPure from L'Oreal. 100% Sulfate-Free and not tested on animals! There are tons of products in the line, but I just ordered some shampoo and conditioner ($6.99 each) to test it out.

To get your own, go to drugstore.com

A Ten Dollar Shopping Trip

Stopped by Old Navy on 6th Ave yesterday and found some amazing deals. 50% off clearance and blowout sale on tanks. I scored a polka dot, empire cut top, $6.00 and a dusty powder pink tank, $4.00. I can't believe I left a store spending only $10!

All Wrapped Up

Pretty like a present. Red satin platform heels from Valentino, $695

A Perfect Leather Jacket

I really want another leather jacket this fall. It's become a quest to find it—a complete obsession! And last night, I got the Victoria's Secret catalogue in the mail, and I saw tons of really cute ones. I particularly love this cognac colored motorcycle jacket. On sale for $219.

Want and Afford!

I'm looking for a pair of perfect black flats. I walk from the station to my job every morning, and my feet get so tired from walking in heels all day. I think the cure could be to use flats walking and then changing shoes at work. I just hate that all my jeans and pants are hemmed for heels not flats! I'm going to be dragging  my pants on the street. Yuck!

I really want the classic Tory Burch Reva ballerina flats, but they are $195. I don't know if I think it's worth it just to trek back and forth from the station.

I found these patent Frankie flats from BP Shoes at Nordstroms as an alternative. Only $59.95 and they come insuper cute yellow patent and red patent too!

Plus, some of the vintage stores sell antique shoe buckles that I could add if I thought they were to plain.

Recessionista Bargain

Stopped by a store in Huntington this weekend and found these cute black patent, peep-toe Mary Janes for only $39. I think they are adorable. Love.

What a steal!

Adorable black and grey stripe sweater dress, on sale for $29.50, Old Navy. Only L/XL left online, I'm hoping the 6th avenue will have some smaller sizes left.

These are the days of Endless Summer

These are the days, the time is now.
There is no past, there is only future.
There's only here, there's only now.

We attended such a fantastic wedding on Sunday afternoon. Great food, beautiful weather, good friends and best of all, the wedding of two really great friends.

Congratulations Bobby and Karin. You deserve nothing but the best!
