Sledding

Didn't get around to post these photos from the other week. The most wonderful day sledding—powder  snow, hot coco in the back pack, and clear blue skies. And who could possibly argue that this is the most beautiful backdrop you could ever imagine—Coindre Hall in Huntington Bay.

Just about to pack it in for the evening. Pounding head and a stuffy nose, and time to head to St. Louis again tomorrow. Wish I could stayed home and nursed my cold instead. Luckily I'll be home 30 hours later again =)

Nighty nite. Sleep tight.

Throwback Thursday

On our way home from Philly with Ameican Pie playing on the radio, reminiscing about our road trips back and forth to university in Buffalo many years ago.

Bid farewell to a great man today. A man that passed away way too young, and has left so much emptiness in so many hearts. Rest in peace Kevin McAleese.

Pay it Forward

It's been such a nice day today even if it's grey and rainy. Early morning visit to the Huntington Y pre-school. I can't believe my little baby is ready to start school already. What happened?! But she absolutely loved it there, and they have swimming lessons included in the curriculum. I'm jealous!

Had to stop by the doctors office today for Cami 'old man' snoring: With sunglasses on, telling the nurse "Lady, I don't like it too hard. Don't do it too hard" over and over again, referring back to last weeks flu shot.

And the best part of today. On Valentine's we had a couple of glasses of wine at Union Square Cafe, and without realizing it, my Hermes make-up bag must have slipped out on the floor. I was devastated. Rich bought it for me as a present for my first director job. And who would be nice enough to turn it in and not just take it for themselves?

BUT my faith in mankind was restored today. I called them today, and sure enough they had it there! I am so relieved. I thought it would be gone forever. I need to pay this good karma forward!

The Americans

Best TV show so far this season—The Americans on FX—AND Fleetwood Mac's Tusk is the theme song. One of the best songs coming out of the late 70s. Could it get any better? This is playing on repeat this whole weekend.

Ladylike

This is the latest bag that keeps me up at night. Perfectly tailored and the size is big enough to keep all my stuff—including the laptop I never leave home without. I'm thinking Audrey Hepburn and Breakfast at Tiffany's. I don't have a nice classic black everyday bag, so this needs to find it's way to my closet stat!

Highlighter Green

Doing some early Spring shopping with this little dress in fluorescent green (I'm not ready to say goodbye to all the neons yet). I just love the Peter pan collar! It was such a bargain too—Mossimo from Target for only $27.99. I need to embrace those kind of shopping habits more.

And since I bid farewell to the light blond hair, I think the new low-lights would look great with this color. Maybe belted with a skinny belt and a cute pair of pumps?

Digging Out

Some pictures from Saturday morning. Rich shoveled snow while Cami and I were being lazy, just playing in the snow. It's so nice when the snow is still all white and clean—and it makes for the most amazing photos. I still swear by the NEX 5 camera from Sony I got last year. It's impossible to take a bad photo.

Wantful Things

If I can find a wall to put this on, I want one of these—the cutest shoe storage ever!

Snow Patrol

I know everyone's complaining about the blizzard that dumped 28 inches of snow on us here in Huntington, but I'm absolutely ecstatic. I love a good snow storm here and there! We had bunkered up with food, wine and plenty of movies on the DVR, so we were doing alright.

Up with the sun this morning to shovel—talk about an excellent workout. Plus, goofing around in the snow with Cami made me exhausted!

The town has closed the roads for any traffic with the exception of plows and emergency personnel, so we're stuck here for another day—but we don't mind. I think tomorrow we are going to try to get over to Coindre Hall with some hot coco in the bag and go sledding. We have to take advantage of the snow—Easter is just 6 weeks away!

Fever

Home with a little fevery and cranky little lady on the couch today. Super stuffy, 104F fever, and a nasty cough. I feel terrible when she is this sick, but I'm lucky enough to have the flexibility to work from home, so I can pamper her.

Spent Super Bowl weekend being lazy at home. We even skipped out on watching the game and indulged in Downton Abby instead. I'm so hooked on that show that just thinking about running out of episodes to watch, gives me anxiety. I think there are a couple of more to go in Season 3 and then I have to patiently wait for next fall.

Popping a bottle of sparkly in the fridge for tonight. I think after a full day as a nurse, a glass of bubbly and steaks on the grill are in order. Even if it's going to start snowing tonight! Another of couple of minutes on the couch and then I'm going to hang some new pictures. I got a signed Damien Hirst print that I have been dying to get up on the wall since the summer. Wish me luck and a straight aim...

Things That Go Bump

Home again from my trip to St. Louis—the weather in NY made it a bumpy ride in to Newark Airport, and for a little while, I was actually feeling a bit anxious. That was not just a little turbulence—my hands were all clammy and shaky, and I am definitely not afraid of flying.

But I'm home, safe and sound. Seeing Rich and Cami after a few days away is the best feeling ever. Gosh I missed them.

Stumbled upon this Miley Cyrus rendition of Jolene, and I can't get it out of my head. I have had it playing over and over again all afternoon.

Looking forward to a weekend at home, kicking back, getting my hair done, and no obligations. We had cancelled our ski trip to Okemo, VT, that we were supposed to have left on yesterday. Thank god, since I was stuck in St. Louis and all. That would have been such a bummer! I think we'll wait to go skiing until next winter. There are just too many things going on right now.

Swinging by the wine store on my way home tonight. Rich got promoted to Associate Director today, and I think some bubbly is in order. He's been so patient staying put at his company, while they have been dragging their feet. But I guess sometimes patience does pay off!

A Bientôt!
