Here We Go Again

Another foot of snow. Decided to go into the office today, but I'll be leaving soon again since the snow is still coming down pretty badly. Some photos from Cold Spring Harbor and NYC from this morning.

Maialino NYC

I'm dying to try Maialino, Danny Meyer's new restaurant in Ian Schrager's Gramercy Park Hotel over on Lexington Ave and 22nd street. Roman style cooking by executive chef Nick Anderer. Everything looks delicious—I'm already dreaming about the suckling pig.

A little tough to get reservations, so plan ahead.

LOVE

The bearded man (my brother).

I'm wondering when he's going to shave. Hubby thinks the beard is super cool and that he looks like Ewan McGregor in Star Wars. I'm afraid of telling him, cause then it may never come off.

And, of course, the cutest little girl in the world.

For Serious Tea Lovers Only

Chicago tea company Argo just opened it's first NYC shop in the Flatiron building (Enter on Broadway between 22nd and 23rd Streets). Tons of different teas from around the world and other healthy tea drinks, plus delish treats and pre-made lunch snacks. (The warm chocolate brownie is to die for)

Two more are scheduled to open up shortly (Columbus Circle and NYU Medical Center).

Punk Bracelet

It's finally here—my Alexander McQueen bracelet. Rich picked it out—he thought this would totally match my personality. Silver with blue twin skulls and Swarovski crystals—I'm madly in love with it.

Floral Dreams

Hottest trend this spring. Florals.

The perfect summer dress. Tiered Sweetheart Halter Dress in black multicolor print from Victoria's Secret, only $58.00!

Almost Weekend

Tumble outta bed
And I stumble to the kitchen
Pour myself a cup of ambition
And yawn and stretch
And try to come to life
Jump in the shower
And the blood starts pumpin'
Out on the street
The traffic starts jumpin'
The folks like me on the job from nine to five.

Thanks Dolly.

Three more days of snow. I surrender.

Simply Stunning

I don't know what it is with me an Burberry lately, but I just saw the Red Carpet photos from the 2010 BAFTA awards. Claire Danes is looking amazing—and what is she wearing if not Burberry. I'm going to have to eat my words about not liking that brand.

Plus, hair and makeup was simply flawless. Love it.

A perfect black blazer.

Five Stars To Burberry

Had a chance to view the live stream from the Burberry Prorsum’s Fall 2010 Ready-to-Wear collection yesterday. It has so many highlights, I don’t know where to start. Oversized shearling coats, olive, navy and black military jackets, exposed zippers, lace. Tailored dresses mixed with oversized coats. I'm in love! Everything Christopher Bailey dreamed up is just amazing.

I’m especially crazy about the black wool coats with tons of detailing—gold buttons, zippers and cool epaulets. I think I may just have found my fall jacket. Can’t wait for this collection to hit the stores.

Behind the Scenes: FNO 2010

CBS just announced that they will be airing a TV special captioning all the behind the scenes hustle and bustle of this years Fashion's Night Out in NYC. If it will be like last year, we'll witness celebrity chaos, hysteria and traffic jams on every corner.

It's currently scheduled to air on September 15—just 4 days after the event. I'm assuming that all of CBS will be pulling all nighters in preparation for this.

Kell on Earth—Best in Show

I'm ridiculously addicted to this show. Kelly Cutrone is a rock star! New episode was on again just last night and they already managed to fire two people working there and a third before she even started. This is priceless entertainment. (They did have a lot of morons working there though).

"We bring staff membres to service us. They're expected to hold their liquor, keep their dresses on, and make it through" - Kelly on company party etiquette

Food for a Rainy Day

Pouring rain in NYC today. I had forgotten how miserable it can be—unless you are cuddled up inside, I guess.

I headed downtown for a lunch date + shopping at Thomas Pink with Rich. Amazing how a lunch date can make a whole day so much better, despite all the rain. We tried this new place Crepes du Nord—Scandinavian Creperie, run by the same couple as Swedish restaurant SmorgÃ¥s Chef (a favorite Swede place). It's actually the back of that same restaurant but instead of entering on Stone Street, you'll enter from South William St.

Despite just being open for a week, the food was really tasty, generous portions, pretty cheap and the atmosphere was warm and cozy. I would say the only drawback was the slow service. We only had our lunch hour and we ended up eating in a rush. They serve both sweet and savory crepes—many with a Scandinavian twist such as lingonberry or smoked salmon—but also classic favorites such as Nutella/Banana and Crepes Suzette.

J Crew is Going Global

Great news for all J. Crew fans.

My favorite preppy brand, J. Crew, has struck a deal with internet retailer net-a-porter.com to distribute some of their clothing worldwide. So far, the chain's apparel and accessories has only been available in North America and Japan, and there has been talks about maybe expanding to the U.K.

Well, now it's finally official. Happy Shopping Everyone!

Beginning in May, J. Crew be available in no only the U.K., but worldwide.

Happy Monday

My gosh, this day passed by so fast—I didn't even get a chance to update my blog. Tons of stuff to do at work this week—and Mondays are always particularly crazy.

For now, plumbing in the bathroom done, baby's room almost done, house cleaned up. Apparently, Rich doesn't think it's safe for me to do the electric since I have a bun in the oven, so I guess we'll just have to shell out some $$$ for an electrician.

Now we just have to tackle that big pile of laundry.

I'll promise to get back tomorrow with some good stuff.

Today's Mama Outfit

Haven't done one of these for a while. Since I can only fit into about five percent of the clothes in my closet, I have to wear the same stuff a lot! At this point I literally hate all of them.

Today: Black dress, GAP; Grey Cardigan, Theory; Tights, American Apparel;, Black Eel skin heels, Pelle Moda.

27 Weeks and Counting

27 weeks today—in three more days I'll be entering month 7 and the third and final trimester. Whoo hoo! Just 13 more weeks to go, thank god.

Up 21 lbs and I'm gaining about a pound every week. Yikes! And I'm eating pretty healthy too—basically no calories leave my body at this point. I guess the gym and a diet will be my best friends this summer. Since last visit, I tested negative for gestational diabetes, and I have a good blood count. It feels like there are a hundred different tests the doctor needs to run.

I feel overall pretty good, but I have had a few bouts of bad heartburn, lack of sleep, leg cramps, achey back and a stuffy nose the last few weeks. I guess it could be much worse, but I'm in that phase now where it's just one long wait. My husband has been so sweet, giving me back rubs and waiting on me hand and foot. I feel spoiled rotten.

We are both so excited, that we can barely think and talk about anything else. Pretty pathetic, but I guess that's how it is. Judging from her crazy antics every day in the belly, Rich thinks she is going to be a firecracker like her mom!

Cravings for this week:
All kinds of yoghurt, especially Greek (and a lot of it)
Fresh pineapple
Cold milk at 4 am (and I normally don't even drink milk)

Currently makes me gag:
Grilled chicken
Steak
Mexican food

Still miss:
A glass of wine or champagne (I don't discriminate)
A good night's sleep
A full day in 4 inch heels
My short term memory (It's completely wiped out. I can't remember anything anymore)
Shopping for something else but bags, shoes and jewelry

Homerun for Kim K and bebe

I don't think I have ever gotten anything at bebe. It has always tended to look a little trashy and cheap, but the new Kim Kardashian collection actually has some great pieces for a night out. Although they were just showing it in Bryant Park the other day, the line is already available at the stores and online (a lot of stuff seem to be sold out already).

Above, a sampling of the collection. (I love the black asymmetrical dress!)

More Marc Jacobs

More from NYC Fashion week before it's headed off for London and Paris. Still on my Marc by Marc Jacobs kick. I found four favorites hot off the runway. I want all four! Funny enough, lately I have liked the Marc bags more than his pricier Marc Jabcobs collection.

Usually Marc by Marc Jacobs bags retail for between $325-$498, but we'll see what the tag will say once they release their Fall/Winter 2010 collection.

I know for sure that the black and the burgundy patent ones will be musts for my bag collection this fall.

Loeffler Randall Pumps

I love these Ramona snake skin 3 snap pumps from Loeffler Randall . They are now new anymore and seem to be really difficult to get hold of.

I'm looking for the black ones in 8.5. Anyone with suggestions?

Turning the House Upside Down

Just decided this weekend, in typical Anna lunacy fashion, to renovate our main bathroom—in the middle of all the baby madness! Perfect timing since I'm tomorrow kicking-off pregnancy month 7. Wobbling around the house with a hammer and a paint brush, trying to get everything done. I know we could have hired someone to do it all, but what's the fun in that?! Sitting on the sofa filing my nails is not even half as satisfying.

Picked out some really cool stuff. Slate flooring, marble tiles, a modern sink, new toilet and lighting. Hopefully it will all come together as perfectly as we planned it. Now we just have to figure out the electric (which I'm really good at) and plumbing (which I'm not so good at. lol). I think two more weekends and we'll be all done (...hopefully).

Lundmyr of Sweden

I'm in love with these baby clothes from Swedish clothing company Lundmyr of Sweden. Adorable and comfy stuff in black, white and red—all in organic cotton.

Plus, they have these cute little tag lines on the tush and chest in Swedish translating to "cutie" and "my love". Who could resist something like that?

Hot off the Runway: Marc by Marc Jacobs

Something we have been seeing more and more in Bryant Park this week—actual wearable fashion. The Fall/Winter Collection from Marc by Marc Jacobs is amazing (and somewhat affordable)—I found it surprisingly difficult to pick my favorite looks. The man is a design genius!

Best Teas in the World

Just tasted the most delicious tea from French tea emporium Palais des Thes at Cafe Gitane. Still haven't been able to find a US retailer that carries it, so if anyone knows, please let me know.

My favorite is the Thé des Lords, which is an Earl Grey blend with Bergamote. It can be purchased through their site and shipped to the US ( kind of pricey), but it may just be worth it if you order in bulk. Plus, they have the prettiest lose tea canisters I have seen—I wouldn't mind having a few of these out on my kitchen counter. (Most of their teas also come in individual muslin bags)

Classic Burberry Prorsum

Let me start by saying I hate Burberry plaid. Somehow in my head it has become synonymous with low class and tackiness—typical Chav. (Sorry all you Burberry plaid lovers). I think it have often led me to totally dismiss all of the Burberry brand as a little gosh.

Shame on me.

This season, Burberry Prorsum came out with some amazing stuff. I'm totally in love with their Featherweight Cotton Dress with Reef Knot Hem ($2,195) and the Nude Glove Suede Knotted Epaulette Trench ($3,995). Both absolutely brilliant. Perfectly classic with a modern feminine cut.
