Cozy under the comforter with vintage Bond on the lap top. Thank god for a neighbor's generosity—currently hooked up with an extension cord to a generator. I guess we can continue to have good food, cold beer and tons of old movies.
Not too bad.

Alive and Well
No power and it might be 7-10 days until we get it back. No cable. No phone. No cell service until an hour ago. It can only get better...thank god for Mickey Mouse on the lap top

It's Actually Getting a Little Scary
Everyone from back home has been frantically emailing me to see how we are doing, so here is the latest.
We have so far lost power five or six times, but it's come back every time. I'm guessing it's going to be lights out permanently sometime during the night, but so far so good. We have stocked upon food and water and we have plenty of candles and flashlights, but hopefully we don't need to use them. I can hear tree limbs snapping outside and here and there I can even hear some scry thumps. I'm guessing a few trees have been toppling over.
We are all cuddled up with candles, blankets and a little bit of wine, and with a little bit of luck, we'll be just fine!
It's gonna be a bumpy night...

Ponies and Pumpkins
Couple of more photos from our outing to White Post Farm the other weekend. Beautiful warm sunny day with pony rides, ice cream, pumpkins and a petting zoo. As expected, despite the typical pumpkin patch madness, Cami loved it, the parents are still recovering...
Honkey Tonk City
Supposed to be on a flight out to Nashville on Monday—I hope Hurricane Sandy won't be putting a stop to that. With a storm brewing down in the Caribbean there will be a chance that all flights out of LaGuardia will be grounded, but with a little bit of luck I'll be on a plane to honkey tonk city for some work and Halloween week fun. I'll be tracking Sandy for the next few days...
Sticks & Stones
The most amazing set of rings from Colby June @ etsy.com, $225.00
Behind the Scenes
Attempted two day photo shoot to get some pictures for the 2013 Arthur Christmas Card this past weekend. As you can see we didn't get a lot of cooperation, but I think I have at least three options to work with.
Plenty of outtakes that didn't quite make it... the running around the tree break, laugh break, dog petting break, lollipop break. More breaks than actual shoot time—I guess that's how it goes with a 2 year old for a model.

Spooky
Had a beautiful evening at the Rise of the Jack O’lanterns at Old Westbury Gardens last Saturday. Food and wine at sis-in-law Debbie’s, and then a walk among 5,000 carved and lit up pumpkins displayed along dark pathways throughout the mansion grounds. Amazingly beautiful. Pumpkins in all shapes and forms—beautiful patterns, likeness of celebrities, cartoons, sports teams, you name it!
Interesting fact: All the pumpkins had been hand carved by local artists and the more elaborate pumpkins took an average of three days each to carve. Pretty cool.
Next weekend will be the annual family Halloween dinner at
Alicia’s house in Rockville Center. Apparently she has been working hard at
this year’s edition of the scavenger hunt. Should be fun. Rich always wins, so
this year I told him he has to play with me and Cami, or else…

Best Chocolate
I'm always up for trying up and coming brands—especially when it comes to chocolate! Rich brought these three bars from Mast Brothers with him home last night, and I'm totally hooked already.
And it's made right here in Brooklyn, NYC! My favorite: Sea Salt Dark Chocolate. 5 of 5, hands down.

One Proud Mama
I'm totally loving these sweet little proud mama necklaces from Jenny Present. I think this will be added to my wish list for Christmas. You can get a ready made version or design your own—and they are not to pricy either.
